Kitchen Equipment for Making Homemade Soup

Making homemade soup recipes is easy, as long as you know a few basics and have some decent kitchen equipment. I have started with the most important, can't-live-without kind of equipment, and then I will move on to the kind of things that will make life easier in the kitchen. Finally, I will list some nice-to-have items, followed by the sort of equipment that you thought only a professional would use, but will find yourself coveting before long.

Kitchen equipment does not need to be expensive, but it does need to be good enough to do the job. The basic tips to remember in order to save money when equipping your kitchen are: 1) Buy used, as long as it is not damaged or badly worn; 2) Don't buy top of the line, unless you find a really good deal, as 2nd tier products are usually good enough for home use; 3) Try to buy items that multi-task -- that is, they serve more than one useful purpose; 4) don't go for the frills and gimmicks until you have all of your basics.

The Equipment

Soup Pots and Stock Pots All you need to know about Soup Pots.

Kitchen Knives What to look for when choosing your kitchen knives.

Cutting Board What cutting board to use for what foods. What cutting boards not to get.

Blenders What types of blenders to use and buy for blending creamy soups.

For the bigger items, such as counter tops, major appliances and cabinets and other home improvements, I suggest going to Our Home Improvement, as they have a really good handle on how a kitchen should be put together.
